Mr. Wayne Stephens 74 of LaFayette, Alabama died Saturday January 3, 2015 at the Bethany House Hospice. Funeral services will be held at the Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 2 PM with burial in the church cemetery, with Rev. Steve Dunton officiating. Visitation will be held at the Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church Monday January 5, 2015 from 5PM until 7PM. Mr. Stephens was born in Roanoke, Alabama October 1, 1940  to Robert Lee Stephens and Elizabeth Pinkard Stephens.  He was a member of the Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church, Was church treasurer, and past chairman of the board of the church, He retired from Liberty National Life Insurance, later operated Stephens Finance in LaFayette, retired volunteer with the LaFayette volunteer fire department after 27 years of service, and worked at Jeff Jones Funeral Home.

Survivors are his Wife of 52 years Carol Shaver Stephens of LaFayette, Al. 2 sons-Brent (Kesha) Stephens their children Britten Stephens, Jessica & Maddy Meadows, & Justin Decker of Opelika, Al., Phil (Lisa) Stephens their children Ashley & Anna Stephens of Camp Hill, Al., brother-Don (Martha) Stephens their son Robert Paul Stephens of Jackson, Tn., sister in law Lynda (Mitchell) Underwood their daughter Amy Underwood of Opelika, Al., Aunt Fay Walters of LaFayette, Al.
