Mary Jean Ross was born on May 4, 1941 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Willie Ella King. She attended Greater Pine Hill Baptist Church. She departed this life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.

On April 4, 1959, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Elbert Aaron Ross, to this union four children were born.

Mary had a servant and empathic heart. Her family was her greatest joy. For many years she was a school bus driver and a winder at Avondale and Shawmut Mill. In her later years she became a personal caretaker to the elderly.

She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Laura (Tyrone) Johnson; a son, Tony Ross; a sister, Argie Burton and two brothers, Morris Ray Phillips and Jerry Wayne Phillips. Mary leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Charles Aaron Ross; her daughter, Rose Mary Huguley, both of LaFayette, AL; one daughter in law, Anita Ross of LaFayette, AL; eleven grandchildren, Christy Finley, LaFayette, AL, Janneka Parker, Birmingham, AL, Shemika Simmons, Savannah, GA, Brandon (Brittany) Bledsoe, Montgomery, AL, DeAntea Driver, Columbus, GA, Iesisha (Curtis) Calloway, LaFayette, AL, Shaquanda Peay, Tuscaloosa, AL, Trenton Ross, LaFayette, AL, Adrian Ross, Tuscaloosa, AL, Camion Huguley, LaFayette, AL and Tynice (Jeremy) Murray of Coosada, AL; one brother, Charles (Ethel) King, Sr., of LaFayette, AL; seven sisters, Maxine (Otis) White, Valley, AL, Helen Turner, Montgomery, AL, Shasta Darden, Cussetta, AL, Linda Burney, Auburn, AL, Doris Faye (Willie) Brown, Valley, AL, and Debra Phillips of Lanett, AL; one aunt, Yvonne King of LaFayette, AL; one great aunt, Thelma Freeman of Detroit, MI; two sisters in law, Mary Lizzie Kyles, Five Points, AL, and Jackie Woody, of Lanett, AL; one embraced Daughter, Dezarae McClelland; two embraced granddaughters, Alieyah and Jaylan Tettleton, all of Opelika, AL; a good friend, Elizabeth Stone, of Covington, GA; and a host of neieces, nephews, othee relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:30 PM at the Finley Cemetery in LaFayette with Jeff Jones Funeral Home, LaFayette, Al., in Charge Of Arrangements.
