Mrs. Mary Ann Sharp Carter 91, of White Plains, Alabama passed into her Heavenly home on Saturday April 1, 2017 at the East Alabama Medical Center. A celebration of her life will be held at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at 2PM with the Rev. Mike Campbell pastor of the Penton Church of God. of which she was a member officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharp Family Cemetery in White Plains. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. John Holmes, MD and all the caring staff at LaFayette Nursing Home for the years of thoughtful and loving care of Miss Ann and to Brother Campbell for his dedication and weekly visits to see her. Each of you made her days happy and for that we are so appreciative. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Penton Church Of God 5011 Co. Rd. 114 LaFayette, Alabama 36862. Ann one of ten children grew up on the family farm in White Plains and lived there until she married. Upon marriage she and her husband moved and made their home in Huntington, W.Va., where her sons were born. Ann (Carkey) a name given to her by her granddaughter and adopted by the family was a loving Mother while pursuing her career as a secretary at Trinity Church Of God in Huntington. Following her service at Trinity she worked at INCO Credit Union also in Huntington. Upon retirement in the 1980's Chester, Jr. and Ann moved back to the family farm in White Plains. The farm once again became the "gathering place" for all the family. Her motto for family visiting was "to have fun, just don't get hurt". She loved her family so much and just loved gathering around the big family dining table and "holding court" as the family would say.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herschel and Lillian Sharp, husband Chester Clay Carter, Jr., and son James Robert (Bobby) Carter. She is survived by her son Chester Clay Carter,III (Brenda) granddaughter Heather Carter Templeton (Gary) grandson Chester Carter IV, (Christy) great grandchildren Gabe & Noah Templeton, Talley & Sydney Carter, sister Reba Price and nieces & nephews.
