Jerry Dale Abernathy, 87, of LaFayette, Alabama, passed away on September 25, 2025 at Canterbury Health and Rehab in Phenix City, Alabama.

He was born in Chambers County Alabama, on September 9, 1938, to the late Hassell and Minnie Kate Ford Abernathy.

Jerry was retired from TREC after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army in the 529th Military Police Company.

Jerry was a member of the Church of Christ of LaFayette, Al.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Drusilla Lamb Abernathy of LaFayette, Al, daughter, Robin (Phillip) Cottle of Roanoke, Al, 3 grandchildren, Matthew Cottle of Roanoke, Al, Laura (Alex) Rodriguez of Birmingham, Al, and Jacob Cottle of Jefferson City, TN., brother-in-law, Curtis Lamb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mimsye Owen.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. (CST) at First Baptist Church of LaFayette with Reverand Jimmy Allen officiating.

Burial will follow at Harmony Memorial Gardens mausoleum in Lanett, Al.

Family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m CST until 2:00 p.m. CST prior to the service. Jeff Jones Funeral Home LaFayette, Al
