Mr. James M. Abney, Jr. of LaFayette, Alabama died Saturday March 19, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 22, 2016 at 3PM at the First United Methodist Church in LaFayette with burial in the LaFayette City Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Howard and the Rev. Ed Grooms officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 2PM until 3PM prior to the service. Mr. Abney was preceded in death by his father James (Doc) M. Abney, Sr. and his mother Ruby Harmon Abney, and his sister Carolyn Abney.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Merry LeGrear Abney of LaFayette, Al., Sons-James M. Abney, III (Cynthia) of LaFayette, Al., John M. Abney (Rachael) of Stella, N.C., Daughters-DeLaine Ann Truman (Tony) of Atlanta, Ga., Jenifer M. Bauer (Jay) of Springfield, Va., 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
