Doris Ladean Chandler Turner passed away peacefully with her family on December 24, 2014 at her residence. She was born to the late Roy & Ruby Chandler on April 21, 1931.

She had previously worked for West Point Pepperell’s Langdale Mill and the Racetrac Service Station. She was a very kind, loving, and devout Christian lady. She was a prayer warrior and prayed for her family daily. She loved the Lord with all her heart, as well as her family and “Tonka” , her Yorkie. She was dearly loved by her surviving husband of 33 years, Earnest “Jack” Turner. She was a wonderful care giver and provided support for him until her health would no longer allow.

“Dot” as she was know by most, was a virtuous and giving lady of faith. She was a beautiful woman and always a classy dresser that matched from head to toe. She loved Southern Gospel music, and all of her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved growing beautiful flowers and was known for some of the finest home cooked recipes and sweet tea. Great is the void that she leaves in this world, but her memories and the impact on the people she loved will live on exponentially. Her favorite places of worship were Evangel Temple and The Bridge Church.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; Her husband Earnest Turner; Her daughter and son-in-law Susie and Greg Asbell; Two sons, Danny (Melissa) Gauntt, Wayne Gauntt; One brother, Eddie Chandler; Three daughter-in-laws, Linda Gauntt, Julia Gauntt, Nancy Gauntt; Ten grandchildren, April Barber, David Asbell, Brandi Lowery, Stephanie Morgan, Bubba Arrington, Jason Gauntt, Josh Gauntt, Jacob Gauntt, Hunter Gauntt, Rob Gauntt, and host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death; her son Ronald Gauntt; brothers Bobby Chandler and Roy Chandler Jr.; Sisters Elizabeth Smith, Inez Hudmon, and Shirley Drennon.

It was Christmas Eve in 2014, that the Lord welcomed you "Moma Dot" in heaven. What a celebration that must have been for my "Moma Dot" as you met your Lord and Savior in heaven with a glorious welcome! How wonderful it must have been for you to reunite with friends and family that had gone on before you! I also understand that since that day you have at different times celebrated the arrival of other friends and family, so I would think these events are just spectacular, and beyond comprehension for us here. In contrast to the joy you experienced on the day you departed, were the people left behind that had an indescribable world of upheaval in regards to emotions loss and grief that we have experienced over the days, months, and years since your departure.

We are missing you so much, and wish you were here to help us cook the best food we were so blessed to have you prepare for us all throughout the holidays each year. While we enjoy our get-together here with family and friends, we so long for the day of the grandest reunion of all. Love and Miss you so much!      Greg Asbell
