Clara Mae Fant, 94, of LaFayette, Alabama, passed away on August 25, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Chambers County, Alabama, on November 29, 1931, to the late McKinley and Winnie Aikens Hay.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Clara Mae worked at Playtex until it closed, then was retired from the Russell Corp. in LaFayette. She also worked at Buds-N-Blossoms Flower Shop for many years. She also worked at Colonial Bank.

Clara Mae is survived by two daughters; Carol Brown and Judy Garsee (John) Penn, brothers; Phillip Wayne Hay and Ronnie Hay, grandchildren; Michelle Abernathy, Carol Ann Sides, Nicki (Cameron “Bubba”) Freeman, Robert Hancock, great-grandchildren; Autumn (Mallory) Hancock, Amber (Ronald) Hurst, Michael (Kelsey) Abernathy, Ansley (Jordan Boddie) Moon, Cameron Freeman, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Hollis Fant.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm CST at Shiloh Baptist Church, LaFayette, AL, with Reverend Chuck Goodwin officiating. 

Burial will follow at the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the church, prior to the service.
